Ivy League sports- getting noticed.?

Can anyone tell me the best way to get an introduction to an Ivy league coach or getting them to check out a kids talent?

Ivy League sports- getting noticed.?
Go to their athletic websites. Some, such as Columbia, have recruit forms to fill out.

Ivy League Universities based on Mathematics?

What are some Ivy League Universities/Colleges that focus more towards math(and the math SAT score)?

Example: Caltech, MIT, etc?

Ivy League Universities based on Mathematics?
Among the Ivies, Princeton has a great reputation for mathematics and has produced dozens of famous men and women in this field. But just about any of the Ivies will have a decent math department...except maybe Harvard. Yale '88
Reply:All of them. They all have Math program and Science programs.
Reply:MIT and Caltech are not Ivy League schools though...

You might want to look up Princeton.
Reply:MIT is the upper echelon for math majors.
Reply:I would have to say pretty much ALL of them. Math to colleges is like a determination of one's I.Q.

Ivy Dorms?

Hi... how are dorms in general in the IVY's?? If i apply to some of them... will i ever have a room for myself??... how many people share a bathroom??, is it clean??... are they quiet??...

Thnx!!

ps: im an international student.

Which school are you asking about? Dorm sizes and bathroom facilities vary by school and building. Some places offer singles, others do not. Some have a common bathroom, others are ensuite.

Ivy league difficulty?

how hard is the actual workload at an ivy league school once you've been accepted? students insight who go/went would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Ivy league difficulty?
Yale is hard: everyone studies in secret so that they can shine and get the best recommendations for their summer externships/graduate school. Putting a lot of effort into your writing will take you a long way, since most seminars are paper-heavy. Students are pretty intellectual and well-read because they tend to come from rigorous private high schools.

U Penn is pretty easy. Lots of big lecture courses and overworked graduate teaching assistants mean that tests are not carefully graded and grade inflation is rampant. More kids from public schools attend and there is a somewhat more business-like atmosphere. I would not say intellectualism is highy prized here, which makes it easier on everyone. Lots of showing off (especially of New money), whereas at Yale showing off is not at all cool. You wouldn't know someone in your residential college won a Rhodes scholarship unless you read it in the papers.
Reply:I went to Cornell. It was very cut-throat.

The professors were very friendly and always available, but that's really true about any private school and not limited to just the Ivy League. The grading however was a bit rough. Professors give hard exams, hard enough that the mean is sometimes in the 40's or 50's.

Because of such low means, a lot of classes were curved to B- or C+. However, when everyone in the class studies, it's tough for any 1 person to get so much higher above the rest, to get an A.

From my experience there, you will definitely graduate in 4 years if you're serious about studying, and do your work as you're assigned it (ie. no procrastination). However, you can't stress out about your GPA. Since everyone there is smart and is from the top % of their HS, everyone studies, and the average student would receive a B- for what may be A+ coursework in other schools.
Reply:I'm sure the difficulty level a person experiences is directly related to: 1) how intelligent s/he is, 2) how rigorous a course-load s/he took in high school, 3) the type of study skills s/he developed in high school, etc.

One answer surely doesn't fit all in this case.
Reply:At Brown it's not too hard. You can take what you want - so if you want to punish yourself you can. I have to write papers quite a bit and even though they aren't very long you can't BS it. Lots of reading which is pretty deep. I think sciences people put in more time than I do though. They also likely make more money.

I also went to a community college for 2.5 years so to compare it that it is MUCH harder. But it's still doable.
Reply:It's actually pretty easy. Everyone says that the hardest part about the Ivies is getting in; from there, you're coasting--and have way less work than your counterparts who got into other top colleges (ie. Williams, Amherst) that weren't Ivies.

However, Columbia DOES have a lot of work.

Ivy League -- which is worse?

I went to an ivy league university. And some people would sit there debating how to answer the question if people asked "where did you go to school?" And they would come up with all these ways to dodge the question -- like "I went to school in state X" or whatnot. I have found that if people say "I went to school in Massachusetts" then people just say "oh, where" and it drags on the conversation. I think it's really arrogant to think you're so special you have to try to hide where you went. If you went to Harvard and someone asks, then say "Harvard" and move on. If you went to Yale, don't say "Connecticut" because that just invites follow up questions. Just say "Yale" and move on. I think it's worse and more arrogant to try to hide where you went than to just answer a question factually if people ask. It REALLY annoys me when people feel they have to lie for some false humility's sake. What do you think?

Ivy League -- which is worse?
I agree. I do not believe that anyone should be ashamed of anything. You can not change the past and if you wanted to do it you should be proud or at least willing to accept the consequences of what you have done. If you kill someone take the blame, if you went to an ivy league school take the looks.
Reply:I agree.

I went to Cornell.

See, that was easy. ;)
Reply:There is a chick at my work who went to Harvard, and she throws it in everyones face. But it does make really funny jokes for when she is sick.

Oh no i have poison ivy! it's itchy and i need help!?

I'm pretty sure I have poison ivy. I scratched my arm earlier and felt bumps. When I checked it out closer I noticed I have a line of bumps, and another couple of bumps next to eachother. I did yard work all last week, so I'm pretty sure it's poison ivy (althought I never saw any!) I have this stuff called Ivy Stat. Have you ever used it? Does it work? What do you use that helps? HELP ME!!!

Oh no i have poison ivy! it's itchy and i need help!?
First of all wash the area thoroughly to completely remove the sticky residue (so it won't transfer to your clothes and other parts of your body). Wash any clothes that might have it on it in hot water a couple times.

Then put rubbing alcohol on the area and apply either calamine lotion, Gold Bond medicated powder (with zinc, which really helps!) or some other lotion, gel or powder formulated for poison ivy. And Aveeno makes this oatmeal bath stuff that really helped me. You can try it or some of their other products, too.

And try not to itch it. If you do, wash your hands immediately.

You might want to take an anti histamine to help with the swelling and itching if you want to (like Zyrtec or Benadryl).

You can also get steroid shots or pills from the doctor if it gets really bad. An over the counter steroid cream like hydrocortisone can also be helpful.

Good luck! You might want to learn what poison ivy looks like so you can avoid it in the future!
Reply:Go to the pharmacy and get some calamine or caladryl lotion and it should dry it up if it's not too bad. You can also ask the pharmacist. Good luck Honey. I've had it before and it's no fun.
Reply:i suggest you use calamine lotion often. This will relieve the itching and dry up the poison ivy. If this doesn't help after a few days, it could be something else so you shoud see a docter.
Reply:i get it bad when i get it. i always HAVE to go to the doctor b/c my body cant beat it alone or something... and after the doctor, it cleared up in 2 or 3 days :D but while you have it, take aveeno baths. not hot water, just barely warm. hot makes it itch. but REALLY hot water scratches it and feels good, but im sure its not good for your skin lol
Reply:contact me for cure.
Reply:pink creammm
Reply:CALAMINE LOTION.AND PUT SOM EPLAIN DRY OATMEAL IN THE TUB AND FILL WITH WATER.SOAK FOR ABOUT TEN MINUTES,THEN RINSE OFF.YOU WILL STOP ITCHING SOON.AND GET SOME BENADRYL.GOOD LUCK,POISON IVY SUX
Reply:Wash the affected area very well and don't get it near your eyes...Don't scratch, get some Benidrill spray and some calamine lotion...
Reply:get the pink stuff. i think it's call calomine lotion? it will take away the itch and dry it up quicker.
Reply:go to the doctor.

they can give you a cream to put on the itch, poison ivy.

also don't scratch your arm.

or it will get worser.

i hope you get better.

and the poison ivy go away.
Reply:go to a doctor
Reply:Go to the doc and get a steroidshot. Very effective at controlling the itch. If not available try using a potent steriod cream Diprolene AF. (may have to get a script for that)

Some really good OTC stuff? Itch-X.

Do your best not to sweat, wear as little as possible and keep yourself cool.

If you break out within 4-8 hours of contact see a Dr. IMMEDIATELY. (Early signs mean an allergry) Most people break out 24-48 hours after contact.
Reply:calamine lotion
Reply:calagel. stops the itching and and dries the oozing.

*edit* if you go to the doctor, they will most likely prescribe you a steroid.
Reply:Try Eucalyptus Essential Oil. It takes the itch away on contact!
Reply:calomine lotion.. the pink stuff!

Penile yeast infection or poison ivy?

ok, yesterday in the evening i started getting an itching sensation on the shaft of the penis and the head. well, i started itching and it got red and hot. every time i itched it hurt more afterward and got irritable. the vary same night i started scracthing my face and in the morning i found poison ivy on the side of my face. i thought maby if i took a shower the ivy would come off. but it didnt. it still remained itchy, hot, and very fat and swollen. i looked on line and it kinda of resembles a male yeast infection. but then, its pretty rare for men, and i randomly developed poison ivy the same night my penis itched. which one is it? i really do not want a yeast infection.

Penile yeast infection or poison ivy?
I'm almost sure you're experiencing a reaction to poison ivy. Buy a tube of hydrocortisone 1% cream and apply it to the affected areas; it's available OTC at any drugstore.
