Anyone attend Ivy League with mediocre GPA but stellar ACT or SAT scores?

I have a mediocre GPA (higher than 3.6) because of the class selections and struggles with maths and science, are the chances of me attending an Ivy league at zero???

I have attempted community service in the subject I want to study, and there are certain Ivy league schools that have the best program in the country avalible for it.

Also,

I know I don't have to attend an IVY league, but where I am located is pretty desolate, and so are the school institutions.

I'm going to be honest with you, you are going to need near perfect test scores and lots of activities to counteract that GPA. The Ivy Leagues are among the most competative universities in the world, and I believe that only Oxford, Cambridge and St. Andrews have comparably low acceptance rates. I have a friend who is a minority, lived abroad for 5 years, had a 4.5 GPA, speaks 4 languages, took 6 AP tests, was class president every year and got over a 2100 on the SAT and was not even waitlisted.

That being said, the Ivies are not the only, nor even the best options. Just because they are competative doesn't make them the best choice for you, and given your GPA, I am going to guess that academically you aren't the most competative person. In that case, being surrounded by very competative and potentially ruthless students might not be a good fit. You can still go out of state, or even study abroad to get away from your desolate location.
Reply:Anything is possible, but things are very competitive these days, so make sure you have backup schools. Keep trying your best to raise your GPA and by taking as many AP courses as possible. Good luck....
Reply:Hi TMVRULES,

Not necessarly, but you will need extra-curricular activities and decent scores to off-set the mediocre grade point. If you are a minority, that will also boast your chances of getting in.

My sister got into Columbia without a stellar grade point, but she had activities and great test scores to go with it. She is not a minority though.

Don't count on getting in and look around at other colleges.
