Ivy league transfer... please help?

my hs gpa is pretty low.. around 3.0 with 1 AP and several IBs, my sat is arount 1700, but i'm retaking it this december, hopefully it will reach around 2200. i have done a lot of activities during high school, varsity softball, varsity basketball, varsity volleyball manager, president of senior class, treasurer for sport committee, several community services and member of clubs

i'm currently attending 4 years college as a freshmen and hoping to transfer to an ivy league next fall, my first term grade is in high rank between B+ to A with micro class, business class, high calculus math class and chinese class.

also my first cousin was an alumni in u. penn wharton school.

Do i stand a chance in transfering to ivy school?

o and i forgot to mention that my junior in hs messed everything up because i was going to concentrate on science, but it wasn't right for me, so i turned to economics and business in senior

Ivy league transfer... please help?
No.
Reply:your first cousin being an alumni from wharton probably won't affect anything. unless of course he/she gave them a new library recently.

just be very focused this/next semester and take a chance. i would say though, from what you wrote, it's going to be a reach. schools look for consistency. and just because you jump 500 points on a test doesn't mean that they are going to take you. but that doesn't mean you shouldn't try.

heck, consistency doesn't even guarantee anything. so many factors go into admissions. how many transfers they want this year, from which schools. for example, they don't want 20 people coming in from new york when they only have 40 spots. they don't want x number of people from the same school, etc.

make sure you research each ivy that you'll be applying to. like what kind of programs do they have, how you would be a good fit. you have to show that you're knowledgable about what they are looking for, too.

everybody is writing "i want to go to upenn because it is the best school and i am the best student rahhh." why should upenn want you?

it's not all about grades or sat scores (not that they're not important). so don't drive yourself down into the ground by trying to be the perfect ivy candidate ok? but be focused in life.

also look at schools that are not ivy's but are high ranking in whatever field you're going to. like economics and business. so you have nyu stern, umichigan, ... uh it's been like five years since i had to apply to college. anyways point being is that you can get into VERY good programs around the country that don't have the ivy league name to it but are STELLAR. so the smart thing to do is not just to shoot for ivys, but doing the same thing when you were a senior in high school. compile a list of reaches, probably's, and safeties. seek out an advisor at your current college to help you through this process.

oo also, form some sort of relationship with your advisors or professors. i know this is hard especially in the first year. but if you're doing well in the class, and have questions about the material, strike up a conversation. professor's recommendations will mean a lot. participate in classes. also, when you hand them the recommendation, give in a copy of your resume, and explain to them or write a little letter about why you want to go to this ivy. because you want to do this blahblahblah and this will help you to blahblahblah in the future. that'll help them with what to write.

OK GOOD LUCK@!
