do i have any chance at an ivy?

Ivy league schools?
I think that getting accepted at an Ivy League School will be next to impossible with a 3.2 GPA and a 2000 SAT1. If you had a low GPA which was offset by a high SAT score or a high GPA and an average SAT score your chances would be vastly improved. You also do not mention the rigor of your courses. Have you taken many AP classes? How have you done on your AP exams? Excelling in these areas may help as well.

For example, Cornell, which is known as the easiest Ivy to get into has first year students with the following profiles:

* 84% in top 10th of graduating class

* 97% in top quarter of graduating class

* 100% in top half of graduating class

The middle 50% of their students had SAT scores in the following ranges:

SAT Critical Reading: 620 - 730

SAT Math: 660 - 760

Penn, which had the second highest acceptance rate among the Ivies had the following stats:

* 94% in top 10th of graduating class

* 99% in top quarter of graduating class

* 100% in top half of graduating class

* 58% had h.s. GPA of 3.75 and higher

* 19% had h.s. GPA between 3.5 and 3.74

* 13% had h.s. GPA between 3.25 and 3.49

* 7% had h.s. GPA between 3.0 and 3.24

* 3% had h.s. GPA between 2.5 and 2.99

I would venture to guess that the 10% of the class with GPA scores between 2.5 and 3.24 were special interest cases such as recruited athletes or legacies.

As far as SAT scores go,

SAT Critical Reading: 650 - 740

SAT Math: 680 - 770

SAT Writing: 650 - 740

As you can see, your SAT score pretty much puts you at the 25% level while your GPA is at the 10% of Penn students.

The competition to gain admission to any Ivy League school is tremendous. You can get the profiles of the 1st year students at all schools at www.collegeboard.com.

Good luck.
Reply:I think you have a chance, but I would definitely have a few back ups that you would want to attend just to be safe.
Reply:Maybe if your rich but probably not.
Reply:money helps and some good refferel letters
Reply:I'm not sure how you're weighted GPA goes up... You do have a chance of getting in at an Ivy, but not all of them. Depends on how much time you want to spend applying to a bunch of schools, you should look at some of the "public ivys" and other top schools, Penn State, Michigan, Berkeley, MIT. You should always try for the top schools, but make sure you have a back-up. Good Luck!
