I have poison ivy!!!! Again!!!!?

I was in the park today throwing a football and it landed in a patch of bushes which i think had poison ivy in them. Now i have red dots starting to show up all over my legs and chest. Last time i got poison ivy i tryed taking baths in baking soda which did not do any thing. After about a week of suffering and not being able to go to school, because i had it All over my body, and i mean ALL OVER!!! I had to get on a prescription which took about 3 to 4 days to take affect.

What is the best and quickest why to get rid of the poison ivy go the hell away!!!!!!

Also is there any why to build up my immunity aginst it.

Thanks

Check out this website. I has alot of opinions and some good reading about p.i.
Reply:You're extremely allergic to it and there's no way to build your "immunity". You might be able to take an allergy medication daily, but I don't think you're in contact with it enough to warrant spending the money. There is a very effective over-the-counter medication at Walmart that you can get (my husband had to use it this summer). Ask the pharmacist there...good luck!
Reply:My wife got pretty good relief from Hyland's Poison Ivy pills when nothing else seemed to be very helpful. Ivy Dry is another product I have heard is helpful. Hyland brands are available at most drug stores and Wal Mart.
Reply:Poison ivy is chemically related to laquer. Your personal resistance to it varies over time, as does the amount of the oil in the plant. While there is not much you can do to build a resistance, you can buy products that form a shield on your skin or just wear smart things if you expect exposure.

You can eliminate the oils if you wash them soon enough- use cold water to oxidize the oil, or rubbing alcohol to dissolve it, or warm (not hot) water and lots of soap to wash away as much as possible. Wash no mater how long ago the contact was- dried oil can contaminate things for months.

Once it starts, the rash will take about 2 weeks to heal, pretty much no matter what you do. So, we treat the annoying symptoms.

Try any combination of these that helps (but avoid mixing medicines, lotions, or ointments on the rash, and be careful when taking any medicines):

- Cool packs or soaks, rub ice cubes on the rash, or have a fan pointing at it to reduce the itch and burning sensations

- Use calamine lotion to dry and cool the rash and ease the itch (check expiration dates!)

- Use hydrocortizone to ease the itch

- Take asprain for the pain/irritation

- Take an anti-hitimine to reduce itching sensation

- Use a baking soda and/or oatmeal bath to sooth the itch

Reply:You poor thing. Use cornstarch my dear it works great for every rash I have ever saw, I have used it for my kids diaper rashes, poison ivy, poison oak, and heat rash. My aunt had some medicine prescribed to her for something once and had an allergic reaction to it and broke out with a rash all over her body. Her doctor told her to take a bath in cornstarch. It worked and it went away. DO NOT USE VASELINE. A lot of people did that in the old days and I can tell you from experience not to do it. Vaseline has too much moisture and will only cause a worser rash. Oatmeal is also good to use. Epsom salt is good to reduce swelling. It may sound crazy but hemroid cream mixed half and half with flour of sulfur works great for drying up rashes too. It is also great for keeping skin cancer sores closed. (my dad has had skin cancer for over 30 years and this paste has slowed down the growth)
Reply:Take lukewarm baths in "AVENO" oatmeal powder, and go get stuff in a box, there are two bottles, its called

"tec-nu, they have a liquid to wash with immediately have you have been in poison ivy and then they have a gel for after to help the itch, I get it soo.....bad, and I am still not sure what it looks like so I keep all these on hand,

I have not had to have the pills or shots since I have been using these. and a few years ago I got into it so bad my arms were nothing but red bumps,, and this worked within 3-4 days, good luck
