Posion ivy help?
I get poison ivy all the time when I'm up at my cottage. The topical cream I've always found to be the best is ANIVY (comes in a tube).

However, I think soaking it is probably not good. You want those blisters to dry out and soaking them is going to keep them wet and soft and easier to break and spread!

I've always found some of the homemade treatments to be the best....if you can stand the smell!

if you dab the affected areas with plain white vinegar or Javex, you'll find that dries the blisters and stops the itch as quick as anything.

Are you aware if you are burning brush and there's poison ivy in the brush, that you can get it from smoke exposure!

The worst places are between fingers and toes because they rub together and just keep breaking the blisters. I dab them well with the vinegar or javex, put a light coating of Anivy (almost looks like Calamine in a tube) and then lightly wrap gauze in and around my fingers to keep them apart.

If it's widespread all over your body, you might need your doctor to prescribe an oral corticosteroid, such as prednisone.
Reply:Thank you for giving me best answer! Hope your itchy days will soon be over! Report It

Reply:It appears you have a severe allergy to poison ivy. It is probably growing in your landscape and when you go outdoors if the wind is blowing in your direction it intensifies the condition you already have. You should see an allergist for a shot to help alleviate or help prevent it from affecting you. Get someone to locate the source of the poison ivy and eradicate it from your premises. Remember LEAVES OF THREE LET IT BE!!!!!
Reply:Sooooo sorry to hear that you are having such problems...I think being itchy is almost worse than being in pain..I had poison oak and it was so bad my Dr. put me on steroids..I remember it took over a week or so for it to start taking effect ...It was horrible.. I actually did an old trick my husband taught me ..I put clorox directly on the poison and it burned but it felt better than itching for a change...Not sure if it is good to do...but It did help for awhile....Ask your Dr...and hang in there and try to do things to take your mind off it ....I know it's hard but the more you scratch the more it spreads...GOOD LUCK!!
Reply:Bless your heart. I have had the same thing before. It does take awhile for it to go away. And it sounds like you are doing everything to get rid of it. However, You are most likely more allergic than others. Try taking some Benedryl. Actually, Benedryl is what most Dr.s prescribe. Good luck with that, I hope you get rid of it soon.
Reply:2 to 5 showers a day with that posin ivy soap and on the places where it is and use ruhle cream. talk to your pharmacy person.
