Posion Ivy and Oak??

Is it possible to not be allergic to posion ivy or posion oak? I don't think that I am, because I went to a friends party and we were walking through the woods, and I think that we walked through poision ivy, if not posion oak. My friends got rashes and itchiness, but I didn't; and I don't think that I ever had. Two of my "smarty" friends said that everyone was allergic to this, but are they really????

Posion Ivy and Oak??
Absolutely. I can't get poison ivy even if I rub it on me (I tried once, like a dummy). My brother is so allergic, he'll get it if someone mows it nearby.

Keep in mind that just because you aren't allergic now, doesn't mean you'll always be that way. Your resistance could change one day and make you as susceptible as your friends.
Reply:depends upon what part of the country you are in..Poison Ivy is usually found on the East Coast..Poison Oak on the west....my sister used to get poison ivy just looking at it...it would go everywhere..even her eyes....I have never caught it and I went to the same camps as she did growing up..and I hike often now as an adult...like everything else..some people can be ultra sensitive..others less so....
Reply:This is possible even if it is unlikely, but being immune to the effects of poison oak/ivy is not a permanent thing. Immunity will actually wear off with repeated exposure to poison oak's oils and you'll end up just as itchy as your friends, so be sure to watch out for this plant and avoid it even if you've been exposed and didn't get a rash.
