Getting Rid of Ivy?

We have some regular Ivy at our house. It is creeping everywhere. Is there a spray or some good technique I can use to get rid of it?

I'd like a green alternative, something organic and environmentally friendly but I'll accept any advice and tips.

Also it can't kill other plants cause we have a beautiful lilac and fig tree that the ivy is surrounding.

Getting Rid of Ivy?
unfortuanately once ivy gets hold it is almost impossible to eradicate; the best is by hand, however any tiny bit left in will grow new; i would try what i could get out by hand %26amp; digging (wear gloves); %26amp; then be sure to snip any you see right in the bud when it starts again; you can try putting straight vinegar directly on it only; however, it will kill any %26amp; all other things in the area it is sprayed on; that is why i recommend grubbing it out by hand;
Reply:There was a huge patch of ivy separating my house from the neighbor's house. About half of it died, randomly, but the other portion was pulled up by hand, about 3 or 4 years ago, and it hasn't been back since.
Reply:The only way i killed the ivy on my house was cut it just above ground level leave it to die and dig the roots out it works in the end

THE ivy above will pull away easy later !!
