Ivy League?

Well, I have a 3.1 GPA unrecalculated. I scored a 35 on the ACT and got a perfect on the SAT. I don't do much homework in school so my GPA is low, but my test scores in school are great. I have taken APs and honors(quite a few). I played varsity soccer freshmen and sophmore year but not this year. I played freshmen basketball. I co-founded model UN and a stock investing club. I have over a 100 hours of volunteer work at Beaumount hospital. Do I think I can still make it to an ivy league?

Ivy League?
The admissions committee will be able to tell that you are "lazy" based on your test scores vs. your GPA. They usually don't admit "lazy" students, so I would rethink your college strategy. If you bring up your GPA with APs, you can almost certainly get into UM Ann Arbor, which is an excellent school--why not do that?
Reply:list "philanthropist" for parent's occuparion. you will be selected immediately. just make sure you have the $$$ for that new building they need.
Reply:I think the 3.1 kills your chances. I don't really know how your school calculates GPA but that is low either way. I'd imaging that the admissions councilors will see your AP, ACT, and SAT scores and realize that you are just lazy (hate to be so blunt). In college its all about working harder than the others so that is a real big negative. Still, your numbers are impressive enough that its worth at least trying one, like Cornell (statistically the easiest to get into). If you don't get in, work your tail off year one of college, then transfer.
Reply:Seriously doubt it. Something doesn't add up - something is seriously amiss if you only have a 3.1 GPA and you are doing perfect in standardized tests. On one hand, you don't do very well on tests, on the other, you do perfect. That over time, you are a B-average student, but on a completely level playing field on a one-shot test, you are perfect?

The only way to get that sort of statistic is if you purposely tanked your classes, or you're lying about your standardized scores.

I call BS, and so will the Ivys.
Reply:Your perfect scores and volunteer work aside, you tell use you are lazy. Why do you want to go to an Ivy League then? You're intelligent, for sure, but getting in is one thing; doing the work and doing it well is another.

Are you intending to become less lazy with your schoolwork in college or do you just want to get into an Ivy? Like another poster said, admissions will think you are lazy, just as you have said yourself, and they may think you are not an asset to the school.

I think you should seriously consider where you want to go and why, and not just because of the name of the school. I think every college information site says this, but go for your match. You will be better off that way.
