Ivy League Chances Please?
You have a good shot -- but it isn't a slam dunk.
Of the things that you mention, there is nothing that will keep you out of an Ivy League college. Your SAT scores are excellent -- but they are average to just below average for an Ivy League school. I doubt that they would keep you out.
The one thing you don't mention is where you go to school. While North Carolina has one of the best university systems in the country, the same can't be said for its public schools. If you are going to school in Chapel Hill or to the Math magnet school in Durham -- then I suspect you can go anywhere in the country. If, on the other hand, you are going to a school in the middle of some unpopulated county in the mountains, then some schools may discount your 4.0. Fortunately, you have those summer programs to bolster your record. What you have going for you is that the Ivies want a diverse student body. That means that they are eager to get students from places like North Carolina. A student from Westchester County NY will have a harder time getting into these schools with a 2120 than you will. On the other hand, you will have a harder time getting in compared to a student from Chapel Hill or the Math School in Durham who has similar scores.
You will certainly get into a good school, even if you don't make it to the Ivies. Apply to the Ivies -- but think about schools like Duke (which is better than most of the Ivies anyway), Emory, Rice and even great liberal arts colleges like Williams, Swarthmore and Haverford.
