Important question about ivy league colleges?

after a long period of speculation, the time has now come for me to try to get into a good college. I am a junior. I have a GPA of 4.3 (Straight A's), am on the executive board of student government, have gotten into governor's school for international studies, have participated invarious other school activities, am in a locally very popular rock band and have completed over 50 hrs of community service. Most likely I will join 2 more clubs before I graduate from high school and will have have done a summer job. THe problem that I am facing is that ivy league schools require a MINIMUM critical reading and math score of 1300/1600 (or so I've heard), and all the practice SAT's i've taken so far, I miss 1300 by JUST A LITTLE. Like ill get a 1200 or 1250. I have been working really hard and hope to get through. But if I dont, does that mean I am not going to Ivy League? Despite that fact that I have certain other things under my belt?

Important question about ivy league colleges?
Since you have a high GPA, I think the schools would give you some leverage on your SAT score. When I was in high school, i remember my teacher handing out information on GPA and SAT and what score could you get a way with if you have a certain GPA. Also, Ivy leagues want personal essays, so make sure you do really well on those too. They also want recommendations too.

I think you should still apply to the Ivy League schools that you want to go to because I think you have a chance of getting in.

btw....I think its a good thing that you have done some community service and your 50 hours of community service will work in your favor. Your community service will not count against you. I guarantee it.
Reply:The good news: You will get into some good school.

The bad news -- unless you bring up those SATs a little -- it may not be Ivy League.

Missing by a little may not hurt you as much as you think. Take more practice tests. Think about taking a prep class.

Also -- make sure you have a great essay. Get people you trust to look at it.
Reply:You really cant say much about Ivy Colleges. Sometimes even the best students don't get in. I applied to Harvard, I did not get in. It might have been my SAT results, but you never know. You might get in anyway. Give it a shot. You might have Luck on your side!
Reply:Some Ivy League colleges or universities are harder to get into than others. When I was much younger we used to believe Cornell was easier to get into. It may not have been true even then. Some schools will pay more attention to your extracurricular activities than others. Your fifty hours of community service will count against you. What did you get arrested for?
